Geography - map symbols
Today we worked outside in the playground. In Geography we have been looking at maps and how symbols help us to find places. We created our own symbols for each area of the playground. Super teamwork!
Stuffed Toy Templates
After learning how to sew a blanket stitch, Oak Class selected their felt and cut their teddy templates in preparation for sewing their stuffed toys!
Water Resistance
Oak Class learned about the force, water resistance and tested its effect through a practical investigation. We worked together to explore if the surface area of an object affects the time taken for an object to sink before concluding our findings!
Year 1 Little Red Riding Hood

Contact Forces
Willow have been exploring forces and magnets this week! We looked at the terms force and contact force, classifying a force as a push, pull or twist. We also created and labelled a diagram using arrows and scientific vocabulary!
Ball Skills
In PE this week, Oak Class communicated to help their team make effective decisions. The children played the roles of attacker to dribble and pass the ball whilst the defenders tried to kick the ball out of play. Super ball skills today!

Reception have been busy using their phonics knowledge to segment and blend CVC words with the initial sounds we have explored so far! Fantastic work!
Our five senses: taste
We had a fantastic Science lesson today investigating our sense of taste. We compared sweet, sour, salty and bitter foods. Marshmallows were our favourite! There were some interesting facial expressions when we tasted lemon!
