The children created a story map of Man on the Moon to explain Bob’s busy day. Then Reception wrote sentences about Bob, segmenting and blending sounds to help with spelling. 

In Science we looked at carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and the teeth they have for their diets. This led us to thinking about our own teeth and how we should care for them! 

In Science we have identified vertebrates and invertebrates and looked at cold-blooded reptiles, amphibians and fish. We researched each animal group in teams to create information posters and looked at ways of classifying using a branching key. 

Some of our amazing space-themed provision this week! Creating moon rock paintings and making shape rockets! Lots of opportunities for collaborative learning and language development! 

In Design Technology we will making some pictures with moving parts. This week we explored slider tools and created a rabbit in a magicians hat! 

Reception have been working hard in phonics learning new digraphs, they are now beginning to write dictated sentences!

We had great fun today exploring the buttons on the Beebot and Robot Mouse to give simple commands! 

In Science we have been comparing animals. Do you know the difference between a reptile and amphibian? Which animal family has wings and a beak? Reception created some animal collages which stimulated discussion! 

Our English text is “The Way Back Home” about meeting a new friend on the moon! We have had lots of exciting space-themed provision to explore! 

Congratulations to the winner and runners-up of the first Spelling Bee heats. Who will represent Mary Howard at the TSSMAT finals in the summer? 

Our Christmas party started with two special visitors!
We played lots of games and enjoyed our party snacks.

Our Christmas lunch was delicious today! We enjoyed the crackers, ice-cream and singing The Twelve Days of Christmas together!
